Casino Complaints: Evidence and ADR Route (GB)
Learn how to build a clear evidence file and navigate the UK Gambling Commission complaint process for licensed operators.
Why this matters
For gambling businesses licensed by the Gambling Commission in Great Britain, a useful complaint identifies the disputed transaction, the requested remedy and the evidence. Keep the date the operator received it: that starts the eight-week period.
Identify the Licensed Entity
Start with the legal business behind the website, not only its trading name. Cross-check the operator, relevant domain and licence details in the Gambling Commission public register. A footer badge alone is not independent verification. This guide concerns Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Other licensing jurisdictions have different complaint routes.
Identify the particular withdrawal, round or account transaction in dispute. State the amount, date and account reference, then explain what you believe should be corrected. Separate the financial dispute from a general service complaint. A licence does not establish that your individual case qualifies for ADR. See our operator licence checks.
Build a Structured Evidence File
Create a chronological log of the disputed event. Include exact dates, times, and time zones. Record the game name, round ID, and stake amount. Capture your account balance before and after the event. Avoid relying solely on screenshots, as they do not prove server-side state. A detailed log provides a clear narrative for the reviewer.
Save all correspondence with customer support. Keep copies of emails, chat transcripts, and ticket numbers. If the operator provides a receipt or settlement trail, include it. Organize these files in a single folder. A coherent bundle demonstrates that you have made reasonable efforts to resolve the issue directly with the operator first.
Start the Formal Complaints Clock
Use the operator's published complaints procedure and clearly label your message as a formal complaint. Retain the message and evidence of when it reached the operator. The eight-week period runs from receipt, not from a later acknowledgement. An ordinary support conversation may not establish that you followed the formal procedure, so record both stages separately.
Ask for a written position and the name of the operator's ADR provider. After eight weeks without resolution, you can ask that provider about referral even if the operator has remained silent. An earlier final position or deadlock may also allow referral. Do not treat the absence of a final letter as a requirement to wait indefinitely.
Check ADR Eligibility and Referral
The named approved ADR provider offers a free, independent route for eligible disputes. Ask it about admissibility and the documents it needs before sending a large bundle. It decides whether the complaint falls within its remit. This route excludes ordinary customer-service complaints and a refusal to accept a bet or to accept you as a customer.
Send a short chronology, the original complaint, proof of receipt, transaction records and any final response you actually received. If no final response arrived, say so and give the dates. Explain the remedy you seek without presenting an allegation as an established finding. Referral does not promise acceptance, a refund or a particular decision date.
